Overview

A coffee of exceptional quality and elegant flavor, grown at Finca Punta del Cerro, the crown jewel estate of famed Guatemalan producer, Aurelio Villatoro.

Cup Profile

As you raise your cup, Punta del Cerro immediately announces its elegance and superiority with an enticing aroma of strawberry candy. In the cup, the candy-like sweetness is more represented by stone fruit in the family of bing cherries or very ripe plum. Accompanying the fruitiness is a decadent profile of cocoa and nougat, which swirls in a viscous, creamy body. The finish provides structure to the cup, with delightful soft tannins, and a long, lingering finish.

In our estimation, this is about as good as it gets for natural processed, estate-grown Guatemalan coffee. We are thrilled to be able to share this wonderful coffee with you!

Meet the Producer

Guatemala is one of the world's top origins for coffee cultivation, due to nearly ideal climate, elevation, and soil conditions. A mature industry and seasoned producers have helped Guatemala develop a reputation for consistent quality, versatility, and coffees that can be counted on for a clean sweetness at any level of roast.

For years, Aurelio Villatoro has relentlessly dedicated himself to the craft of producing traditional washed coffees that exemplify this quality and reputation of Guatemala on his cherished family farm, La Esperanza.

In 2018, however, Aurelio began a new chapter when he acquired a stunning new estate, Punta del Cerro, which would become a laboratory for innovation to push the boundaries of coffee excellence.

Named after the mountain (Cerro) which embraces the whole property, Punta del Cerro has become a cutting-edge facility, as the family has enlisted forestry engineers, agronomists, and certified Q graders to elevate and innovate at the farm level. Recently, the Villatoros built their own state-of-the-art cupping lab in Huehuetenango to further analyze and improve the processing of their coffees.

Punta del Cerro is the culmination of decades of hard work and dedication which has propelled Aurelio to the top tier of producers in Guatemala. Meticulous care at every stage of production sets Punta del Cerro's coffee apart, resulting in a coffee of exceptional quality, elegance, and taste.

Perhaps Onyx, our exporting partner in Guatemala, puts it best, "The legacy of the Villatoro family is one of resilience, hard work, and an enduring passion for coffee. Their coffees are not just a product; they are a testament to a proud tradition of excellence."
