Cup Profile

Flor del Cafe is a perfect everyday drinker that will be a frequent star in our batch brew offerings at our cafe. A round, creamy body and clean sweetness serves as a canvas for delicious and comforting notes of hazelnut, caramel, and chocolate. Spend some time with this coffee as it cools and it reveals delicate but discernible fruit notes reminiscent of Blackberry and Red Apple. Overall, this is an immensely enjoyable and extremely drinkable cup of coffee, sustainably grown in excellent terroir.

Meet The Producer

The story begins with Oswaldo Pérez Pérez, the pioneer of coffee cultivation in the town of Agua Dulce, Cuilco - a lush high-altitude paradise in the province of Huehuetenango.

Oswaldo fought against odds and challenging logistics to establish coffee production in this remote region, an effort that has now benefitted three generations of his family. The work was worth it, as the ideal growing conditions and rich soil of Finca Flor del Cafe lend a complexity and vibrancy to the farm's crop.

When Oswaldo passed, he left parts of his estate to each child. While the siblings eventually lost interest in coffee, the youngest son - also named Oswaldo - grew a passion for the work. Over the years, he slowly acquired his siblings lots to reunite and preserve the family estate. As fertilizer costs rose, Oswaldo turned to organic farming methods and fertilizers, adapting to his lands needs and eventual organic certification for the estate.

Today, Oswaldo and his son, Max, continue the legacy of Flor del Cafe, honoring the family's heritage. Max, who is a highly regarded producer with his own farms, makes organic fertilizer for Finca del Cafe using coffee pulp and organic matter from chickens at his Acatenango farm.

The Roast

A true medium roast by our standards, we are looking to develop the sugars and body in this coffee for sweetness and texture, while avoiding any sour or bitter flavors from under or over roasting. If you are a fan of medium-roast coffees, you're going to love Flor del Cafe!

Perfect medium roast

I prefer light roasts, but even the dark roasts and espresso blends by this company are all perfect. They never taste burnt, and every different blend has tons of flavor. The Guatemala by Freeform is an awesome mix of the flavor of a light roast, and the body of a medium/dark roast.
