MON CHERÍ

SEASONAL BLEND

Mon Cherí is a love letter to coffee, as we celebrate seven years of roasting (can you believe it?!). To mark the occasion, we've put together a first for FreeForm - a blend of co-fermented and washed coffees from Colombia that oozes with Valentine's Day vibes.

Mon Cherí's secret sauce is the combination of traditional and experimental processing techniques in a single blend. For the traditional component, we're highlighting an organically-grown regional lot produced by Ecoterra Nariño Association (known as La Jacoba), grown by 100 smallholder farmers in Nariño, Colombia. On the innovation side, young producer Brayan Alvear showcases his processing skills with a cherry and sugarcane co-fermentation lot that features the coffee from his farming neighbors.

A medium roast on La Jacoba sets the foundation of this blend - delivering a nice body and notes of brown sugar, dark chocolate, roasted almonds, and orange. The star of the show, however, is Brayan's co-ferment, which we roast lightly to reveal undeniable notes of cherry and amaretto, unlike anything we've ever tasted.

Combined, these two coffees from nearby regions in Southwestern Colombia create an incredibly drinkable and flavorful coffee experience. We hope you enjoy!

Meet the Producer

Brayan Alvear

When we sampled Brayan Alvear's cherry and sugarcane co-fermented Caturra / Colombia lot, we instantly knew we had to find a place for it on our menu. Having had the pleasure of featuring Brayan's berry co-ferment in 2023, we knew what the young producer was capable of. This lot, however, was so unique and - to be frank - overwhelmingly flavorful, we decided to try blending it with some more traditional coffees to balance the wild flavor profile and be able to offer the blend at a somewhat reasonably price point.

Brayan is from Acevedo, a municipality in Huila, Colombia, a rural coffee-growing area and one of the top producing regions in the country. He's been learning the trade of coffee under the tutelage of his father since he was 13 years old.

In 2023, he managed to create a project in partnership with more than 60 neighboring coffee growers and Shayd & Elias Bayter, renowned owners of Forest Coffee. His mission to utilize innovative processing techniques to create additional value for his community has worked, and now Brayan oversees the production of several co-fermentation coffee projects each year.

Meet the Producer

La Jacoba

Ecoterra Nariño Association, also known as La Jacoba, works with 100 coffee producing families in the Nariño Department of Colombia. These families have farms averaging 2 hectares in size throughout many municipalities in the department, including La Unión, Cartago, San Lorenzo, Colón Génova, Arboleda and San Pedro Cartago.

La Jacoba’s objective is to expand the supply of Organic certified coffee from Colombia, including from some of the country’s best known regions like Nariño. The project is designed to make positive environmental, social, and economic impacts by offering premiums for certified Organic coffees, investing in reforestation, offering training in environmentally-friendly agricultural practices, and improving the infrastructure of coffee production and housing for members.

Coffee from La Jacoba undergoes traditional Washed processing for a clean and classic flavor profile.
